The Carbon 60 molecule was discovered in 1985 by three researchers, Richard Smalley, Harry Kroto, and Robert Curl, all working at Rice University at the time.
C60 molecules are composed of carbon atoms linked to three other carbon atoms by molecular bonds. The carbon atoms are connected in the same pattern of hexagons and pentagons as you find on a soccer ball.
C60 is said to attract free radicals and, due to the magnetic properties of free radicals, attaches itself to the C60 molecule, and is then flushed out by the body.
Carbon C60 present in the lipo fullerene acts as an antioxidant and free radical 'scavenger', helping to maintain overall good health. Fullerene C60 is also known to be able to deactivate hydroxyl radicals by attaching to the double bonds.
Since free radicals are more 'energetic' due to their unpaired electron, they have a tendency to be reactive with other molecules.
